Aurora Borealis

One of the most freeing ways to make art is to begin with abstraction. You can then thoughtfully follow what emerges down a pathway that is both intuitive and some sort of inherent plan that seems of its own accord. A wet-into-wet saturated wash formed the abstract background and somehow the idea emerged for an Arctic Circle tribal-art Salmon. The totem followed and naturally, the Aurora emerged from the rich darks and became the rather magical night sky. Framed in textured Walnut Larson-Juhl with Museum glass.
