After The Gold Rush Alder Gulch Montana

Prev Next
On Montana Highway 287 between Virginia City and Nevada City, lies the abandoned Alder Gulch Short Line Railroad and Alder Gulch Gold Mine. It is a rather surreal place to visit. One can imagine the era when this was a vibrant mining community. I suppose someone benefitted enough to purchase this 1959 Cadillac that now sits in disrepair, along with the ghostly rusted mining equipment. The Neil Young song After the Goldrush immediately came to mind and this mixed media painting resulted after a few months of contemplation. Framed with a beautiful burnished gold-black Larson-Juhl molding and museum glass.
